Cokebusters is an international company specialising in the provision of mechanical decoking and associated intelligent inspection of fired heater process tubes. From our two headquarters in the United Kingdom and the United States, we are able to consistently deliver high quality services to the Oil Refining Industry across the globe.
With the benefit of over 20 years of experience in this niche activity of fired heater tube maintenance, we have developed and grown to become the leading centre for independent scientific advancement of fired heater tube decoking & inspection technology. Cokebusters is now dedicated to the development of scientific advances in these demanding, high technology services.
How do we achieve this high standard, with cost and time efficiency?
A successful mechanical decoking operation is directly dependent upon three key components:
Our Scraper Pigs have been developed to take an effective middle line between hard bodied and soft core pigs. They are tough enough to remove the hardest coke, yet designed to protect tube wall metal.
All pigs are manufactured at our UK Technology Centre. This guarantees consistent quality control and provides valuable opportunity to cast pigs to suit particular client requirements.
Bespoke Machinery and
Specialist machinery and associated equipment is designed & fabricated in-house.
With valuable feedback from site, each new machine benefits from slight improvements. Our operators are involved in machine assembly, providing first-hand knowledge guiding their ability to deal with any faults during site works. All our machines include primary filtration to capture hydrocarbons for controlled disposal.
Direct Employment of Skilled Manpower
In pursuit of performance quality and safety on site, Cokebusters has a strict policy of direct and full time staff employment.
From practical and written examinations, all decoking operators are regularly assessed and graded. Operating with such a unique development program, Cokebusters employees are well trained and gain wide experience from working in oil refineries in various environments around the world.
International Standards for Quality, Safety and Environmental Care
Cokebusters has operated under ISO 9001:2008 QA procedures since 2006, using these internationally accredited quality guidelines in management of all procedures. Accreditation under ISO 18001:2007 OHSAS safety procedures was awarded in 2008. Subject to external annual auditing, this high qualification has assisted compliance with all site safety procedures and helped to maintain ZERO lost time incident record on all worldwide operations since the company was incorporated in April 2005.
The third in this set of high level approvals is ISO 14001:2004 (environmental) which was achieved in July 2013. Cokebusters has developed several partnership arrangements with academic institutions, leading to continuing R&D in filtration of contaminated outfall water, along with fuel usage, emissions and recycling of consumables. We were also recently awarded ISO PAS99:2006 for our integrated management and administration systems.
